As built environment industry leaders, many of us are involved in the strategic planning for the companies we serve. We all know the importance of developing a strategy in order to achieve the goals we have set for our company, but how do we know if our strategy is a winning one?

I recently read an article on Results.com with some key tests on “How to Tell if You Have a Winning Strategy” and wanted to share it with all of you. In the article, Stephen Lynch discusses how to avoid four “Strategy Traps” and outlines the “Telltale Signs of a Winning Strategy.”

Lynch’s post was inspired by the best-selling book “Playing to Win” by former Proctor & Gamble Chairman and CEO A.G. Lafley and his strategic adviser Roger L. Martin. This insightful book outlines the strategic approach Lafley and Martin used to double P&G’s sales, quadruple its profits and increase its market value by more than $100 million when Lafley was CEO from 2000 to 2009. Now that sounds like someone with a winning strategy that we can all learn from!

If you have some tips on developing a winning strategy, please be sure to share them with us in the comments section below.
